Please do not invite Planned Parenthood to your campus. They are not to be trusted with our youth.My name is Joy Pace, and I am our Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church (Champaign, Illinois) Pro-Life Committee head. I have been involved with pro-life work for nearly 8 years now, and currently do sidewalk counseling in front of our local Planned Parenthood - located right in the campus area of the University of Illinois.
My personal experience with Planned Parenthood has been this:
We have had girls as young and younger than 14 go in for abortions, with no parental notification. The men these girls were impregnated with were 18 and over. This is considered statutory rape. PP is obligated to report every instance of this, but they don't - even going as far as telling girls not tell the age of the father, so they do not have to report the abuse. This series of abuse, found in all 50 states, was captured on tape from Human Life Dynamics, I believe. The 14 year old we talked to was driven to PP, from over 2 hours away (Peoria), by the sister of the boyfriend. He got out of a jam, and she ended up with her abortion, with no adult support. This happened this spring 2007. We have had other young girls, smaller than my-then 12-year-old, get abortions at PP.
Our local Planned Parenthood makes people pay in cash (no trace), hand over their driver's license and cell phones. The woman is led beyond locked doors, with no other friend or family member present (not even a parent or husband), unless she needs an interpreter, (and then only the interpreter is allowed in the back).
Our local PP trains youth in a group known as the 'Teen Awareness Group' where teens get "proper sexual education" and are sent back into the colleges, high schools and now middle schools. Teens get paid, and are given extra bonuses if their friends come into the clinic.
Our local PP gives hormones in the form of birth control pills, the morning after pill, the patch, etc, to practically anyone who desires them.
My own personal experience, when I was in college, was that I was given the Pill by Planned Parenthood, even though my personal history of being a DES daughter should have precluded my having extra hormones. They never asked for my personal history. I did not find out until years later that I should not have been put onto the pill, since I had more of a chance with cervical cancer due to my DES exposure. I was young and stupid and very naïve. It was a very sinful time for me, and don't want to hand anymore of our youth to SIN.
Abortion is the biggest killer of African-Americans in this country - bigger than AIDS, Cancer, Heart Attack, Stroke, Accidents, and Violence combined.
U.S. Abortion in ONE year, ends the life of more Americans than all the US WAR dead from ALL our US wars combined - in ONE year Alone.
Abortion is one of the best predictors of BREAST CANCER in women - especially here in America - since it usually pushes back the age that women have a child, and unnaturally interrupts a woman's pregnancy before the third trimester (a miscarriage however does not increase this risk due to the natural hormones sent out prior to and during the miscarriage). see www.abortionbreastcancer.com Also - hormones contribute to breast cancer, as reported by the World Health Organization.
My friend is now sterile from her abortion experience - and that (along with the death of her children) is a huge price to pay.
Planned Parenthood has a long and very bad history - being founded by Margaret Sanger, who was a eugenics fan. By supporting unrestricted sex to any age group, regardless of marriage, PP sets a very bad precedent for our youth - irresponsibility, selfishness, usury, and misuse of our God-given gift of sexuality. And that is besides the purposeful deaths of our weakest in our society, the unborn.
Please - as a Catholic institution - we can not support any organization that causes the death of so many innocents. We can not lose our youth to more lies of the sexual revolution. We can not destroy any more black families (see www.blackgenocide.org). We can not be complicit in any way with the organization and others who support abortion. The blood of 50 million are on the hands of the abortionists in this country alone - and Planned Parenthood is the single largest provider of those abortions (about 250,000 last year alone).
PLEASE - follow the Catholic teaching - we have a BIG teaching moment here - and your school will be held accountable to WHAT you teach. Be Catholic - follow the authentic teaching - do not cooperate with evil - Disinvite Planned Parenthood - OR invite Priests for Life, Silent No More, Dr. Alveda King and others to talk on behalf of the unborn.

I look forward to talking with anyone on your staff about our experiences here. Planned Parenthood should be un-invited. They are no friend of families, no friend of youth, and are not leading souls to heaven (in fact - the opposite!)! Please - do the right thing...
