You should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law for violating the terms of use for alumni email. Holy Cross alumni use this network to receive information from the college, not from right wing zealots who believe their opinions to be the only ones worth holding.Fr. McFarland takes his responsibilities as president of our alma mater very seriously and in all things he makes his decisions with the best interest of all Holy Cross constituents. He does not now, nor has he ever promoted abortion. To imply anything of the sort is slanderous and wholly inappropriate. He lives his vocation in full agreement with the Church's teachings on the sanctity of life from the moment of conception to the moment of natural death. Providing hospitality to a forum for the purpose of discussion of challenging issues such as abortion and teenage pregnancy is in no way equal to agreeing with all points of view. Fr. McFarland has clearly come to his decision to provide this measure of hospitality after prayerful discernment in receipt of the gifts of the Holy Spirit: wisdom, understanding, right judgement, courage, knowledge, and awe of our Creator. I can only pray that you, Mr. Ruddy do the same.

Holy Cross is a great liberal arts institution and while I am happy to see my fellow Alums use the Alumni organization to express their free speech on an important issue, I find it ironic that the purpose of the mailing is to try to deny a discussion on campus! Shame on them! I won't even go into the issue of using our Alum listserve to discuss holding back contributions to the College. Again, shame on them! The College's stand on this issue makes me even prouder to be an Alum.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Have just sent HC contribution - wish it could be more - so that they can fight off bigots such as yourself. Bill Coffey '62

Subject: Fr. McFarland's Decision to allow Planned Parenthood on Campus
Dr. Michael Collins:I am a 1961 graduate of Holy Cross and I fully support Fr. McFarland's decision to allow Planned Parenthood on campus. He is doing a great job as President and should receive every alumni's support.
